William L. Veen

Attorney, Founder and Principal

William L. Veen oversees the operation of The Veen Firm and focuses his energy on mediations and trials of complex cases. He founded The Veen Firm, P.C. in 1975 and developed the firm from a one-man operation to a firm with over 40 members today.

Mr. Veen has represented injured workers and consumers in recovering damages arising from industrial accidents, construction accidents, elevator accidents, motorcycle accidents, defective products, professional liability, and auto and truck accidents.

Mr. Veen was honored as the 2003 Trial Lawyer of the Year by the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Consumer Attorneys of California, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association (President, 1994), the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the California Applicants Attorneys Association, the State Bar of California, and the State Bar of Hawaii.

Mr. Veen has been a frequent lecturer for the Consumer Attorneys of California and the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, having actively participated as guest speaker nearly ten times in the last seven years. His published articles pertain to a variety of issues, including trial strategy, vicarious liability, and legal malpractice.

In 1968, Mr. Veen received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Michigan, and a year later became a member of the State Bar of California.

Mr. Veen was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan in 1943. He served as Lieutenant for the United States Coast Guard Reserve as a Legal Specialist. He was awarded the Coast Guard Achievement Medal and represented parties in numerous court martial and Investigative Board procedures. In 1971, he was admitted to the State Bar of Hawaii. He left the Coast Guard in 1972 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander, U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. In his free time, he enjoys motorcycling, skiing, scuba diving, and hiking.
