The Veen Firm's Cynthia McGuinn Named President of American Board of Trial Advocates' San Francisco Chapter
San Francisco, Feb. 4, 2008 – The Veen Firm's Cynthia McGuinn has been named 2008 president of the San Francisco chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a national organization of preeminent trial lawyers. McGuinn has been involved with ABOTA for several years, including serving as an at-large director on the national board from 1999 to 2002.
"My goal this year is continue ABOTA's strong commitment to protecting our citizens' right to civil trial by jury, civility in the profession, and ethical representation," McGuinn stated. "Additionally, one major focus this year is growing the organization's efforts in youth education."
McGuinn oversees the McGuinn|Cooper Trial Team, a 10-member division of the firm focused on prosecuting and trying large damage exposure, complex injury and consumer cases. She specializes in representing injured people, consumers and children in personal injury, wrongful death, professional negligence and product liability matters against public and private entities. McGuinn has developed a specialty in jury work and regularly tries to verdict single and multi-plaintiff cases for wrongful death and catastrophic injury.
In addition to her ABOTA involvement, McGuinn is a Fellow of both the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers. She was named the "2003 Trial Lawyer of the Year" by the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and has served on its board of directors, as well as the board of the Consumer Attorneys of California. She is an author and frequent lecturer to universities and legal organizations on the subject of trial practice. McGuinn received her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law (1981).
