The Veen Firm Names Elinor Leary Pro Bono Coordinator

San Francisco, Dec. 18, 2007 – Elinor Leary has been named The Veen Firm’s Pro Bono coordinator. In the role, she will oversee the firm’s involvement in outreach and volunteer efforts and develop relationships with community leaders who share the firm’s outlook and commitment to pro bono work.

The Veen Firm recently solidified its commitment to pro bono by instituting a formal program focusing on the aggressive pursuit of social justice for the underprivileged in court. The current program benefits the La Casa de las Madres Advocacy Project, which helps victims of violence obtain and modify restraining orders against their abusers, and the VLSP’s Courthouse Project, which provides attorneys for low-income tenants faced with eviction.

“We are extremely proud of our pro bono efforts. By creating a formalized program under Elinor’s capable direction, we hope to set a trend that other plaintiff’s firms will follow,” said William Veen, founder of The Veen Firm.

Leary is a member of the Saint Phalle trial team, which focuses on civil litigation for personal injuries involving complicated medical issues and disabilities. She represents people who have suffered damages because of industrial accidents, dangerous products, unsafe premises, auto accidents and professional negligence. Prior to joining the firm, Leary was an Alameda County Public Defender.

Leary is an active member in the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice, Consumer Attorneys of California, Queen’s Bench Bar Association, University of San Francisco Inns of Court and is a frequent moot court judge involving appellate practice and trial practice at the University of San Francisco, School of Law. She earned her J.D. from the University of San Francisco, School of Law (2003) and her B.A. from American University, with degrees in law and society and literature.

The Veen Firm focuses on recovering damages for the catastrophically injured and has since 1975. The firm specializes in catastrophic injury, construction accident, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, negligence, premises liability, product liability, toxic exposure and wrongful death cases.
