Jane Doe v. Doe Parking Lot
- Resolution Date:
- March 2005
- Practice Areas:
- Premises Liability
- Synopsis:
- Jane Doe injured her ankle on Doe Parking Lot's parking structure. Jane Doe argued that dangerous conditions on the parking structure caused her injury. As Jane Doe got out of her car, she unknowingly placed her foot in a metal expansion joint that trapped her foot in a fixed position. This caused Jane Doe's foot to lock in place and her ankle twisted as she stepped away from her vehicle. Jane Doe suffered a severe sprain to her left ankle, as well as torn ligaments and nerves. Her injuries required arthroscopic surgery. Another result of Jane Doe's fall was a nerve injury called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and a blood disorder called Deep Vein Thrombosis. These conditions required lifelong medical treatment and limited her future employment. The matter settled before trial.
