We are pleased to announce Trial Team Leader Craig M. Peters and Attorney David L. Winnett were selected as finalists for the Marin Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA) Trial Attorney of the Year Award for their work in obtaining a $14.9 million verdict in the Doe v. Mazda case.
The case involved a high-speed traffic collision in which a large truck slammed into a stopped Mazda Protégé, which resulted in the Mazda’s seatback collapsing due to a faulty design. The impact seriously injured the driver of the Mazda and altered her life permanently.
As a result of their work, Craig and David obtained a $14.9 million verdict on behalf of the driver and also set precedent for safety in high-speed crashes that will hopefully push the automotive industry forward to embrace a new standard for consumer safety in freeway-speed collisions, as well as set a new standard in automobile safety across the nation.
MTLA’s mission is to promote professionalism and civility in the legal profession, improve local bench-bar relations, provide educational information, protect the right to jury trials, and promote fair and equal access to justice for all litigants.
