Using Laser Scanning to Create a 3D Model to Demonstrate Unsafe Stairway Conditions and Safety Fixes

Here is an example of a case litigated by Andje Medina and Anthony Label of the Label Trial Team involving a traumatic brain injury resulting from a fall down a stairway. In this case, a 3D laser scan was made of a nightclub interior including the stairway where plaintiff fell. The 3D laser model allows one to “fly” in and around the building to view the stairway at different angles, “cut in” to the stairway for side views to evaluate stair height and length (rise and run), highlight dangerous conditions, and “rebuild” the stairway with safety fixes to show what a safe, building-code compliant stairway would look like.
