Litigation Paralegal

What you’ll do

Assist multiple attorneys during various stages of litigation.
Prepare draft discovery, responses, and privilege logs under an attorney’s direction; organize, index, and Bates-stamp document production.
Finalize draft pleadings, discovery, mediation briefs, motions, and other documents, including proofreading, formatting, and assembling exhibits.
Perform basic legal research, online research, and research of court rules and procedures.
Communicate professionally with clients, courts, attorneys, and experts.
Open health insurance liens and communicate with insurers to obtain lien information and provide updates.
Prepare medical expense summaries.
Assist in trial preparation, including trial binders and organizing exhibits.
Coordinate with experts and assist with expert file production.

What you bring

At least 5 years as a personal injury litigation paralegal preferred (plaintiff or defense).
Strong personal and professional judgment, and the initiative to act in the absence of direction.
Ability to work under pressure across a wide variety of activities with discretion and poise.
Familiarity with state and federal rules and procedures for depositions, discovery, mediations, hearings, and trials.
Strong Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Zoom, and DocuSign skills.
Meticulous attention to detail, organized, efficient, and flexible.
Proactive, resourceful, deadline-focused, and able to work independently.

Personal Injury Litigation Attorney

A full-time, exempt position at The Veen Firm, a plaintiff personal injury firm. We are seeking a California-licensed attorney with 2 to 10 years of personal injury litigation experience (either plaintiff side or defense). The ideal candidate has experience arguing motions, taking both fact and expert depositions, and having primary responsibility for their own caseload. Please do not apply if you are a post-bar graduate or if you are not licensed to practice law in California.

What you’ll do

Handle all aspects of a litigation caseload, including client and team communication, evidence gathering, written discovery and depositions, enforcing discovery, assembling mediation packages, and communicating with defense counsel and insurance adjusters.
Ready cases for trial, including all pre-trial documents, motions in limine, and witness preparation.
Support the trial team as necessary during trial, and/or participate in trial.
Volunteer readily when team members need help, even when the task falls outside your technical role; seek increased responsibility, and ask for and offer help when needed.
Respond to and incorporate management direction and constructive feedback.
Staunchly protect our firm’s culture and reputation.

What you bring

Active California license to practice law (required).
2 to 10 years of personal injury litigation experience (plaintiff or defense).
Experience arguing motions and taking both fact and expert depositions.
Primary responsibility for handling your own caseload.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Well-developed organizational and time-management skills.
