As published in Appeal-Democrat, Trial Team Leader Elinor Leary and Attorney Clifton Smoot filed a lawsuit on behalf of Dale Sandell against Triple S Ranches, Inc. for premises liability, product liability and negligence after an above-ground storage tank exploded, resulting in serious injuries.

Trial Team Leader Craig Peters and Attorney David L. Winnett’s case Doe vs. Mazda was featured in San Francisco Chronicle’s Northern California Verdicts section. The case involved a high-speed traffic collision where a truck ran into Doe’s stopped Mazda Protege, causing the Mazda’s car seatback to collapse and fold in half on impact. This seatback failure caused serious and life-altering injuries to the plaintiff, and the jury returned a verdict in her favor on April 1, 2016 for $14.9 million.
In her California Lawyer article “Internet Investigations for Effective Discovery,” Attorney Alexandra Hamilton discusses the various online resources available to aid attorneys in discovery. For example, in a recent premises liability case, the defendant claimed a defective ramp existed when the defendant purchased the property in the 1970s; however, Google Earth photos revealed that the ramp was absent in satellite pictures before 2008.
