The Veen Firm Named Among Daily Journal’s 2017 Top Boutique Law Firms

We are proud to announce that Daily Journal has named The Veen Firm to its 2017 Top Boutique Law Firms list, recognizing the firm’s plaintiff work on behalf of individuals who have suffered catastrophic personal injuries.

What began with a single attorney in 1975 has grown into a powerhouse boutique, with William Veen at the helm. The 11-attorney group has garnered millions of dollars in victories in the past few years alone, and Daily Journal highlighted a few of the firm’s most notable matters in their profile, including the representation of the family of an artist who died in the Oakland Ghost Ship fire, obtaining a nearly $15 million verdict against Mazda and obtaining a nearly $45 million judgment on behalf of plaintiffs who were shot at a warehouse party.

“I think the recent cases are emblematic of our willingness to try difficult cases against no offers, against very well-financed and sophisticated defendants,” said Trial Team Leader Anthony Label. “We’ll try these cases even if they might not be the best business decision because we believe in justice, we believe in our clients, we believe in not backing down, and making defendants and insurance companies know that when we say we’re going to try a case, we mean it.”

“We take cases to try them, not settle them,” Veen said. “You see the whole way the case comes straight from into the door and out the door. And that’s a long process.”

More than 40 years since The Veen Firm‘s inception, the firm is set to expand yet again. Next year, the firm will relocate to what is now the UC Hastings College of the Law library, which includes over 10,000 square feet, 30 parking spaces and even a mock courtroom.
